Lafayette Reservoir run 10k, october 25, 2015, New PR (old PR was 54:51)
53:55, 8:41/min mile pace, 4th of 36 ( wrong age category, accidentally put in wrong birth year!)
Woke up very tired after a long day at the carnival and baking treats - next year I’m not doing that the day before! The entire run I just didn’t feel very fast and never really warmed up, had to push myself to maintain this pace.
They changed the route a little which meant one more hill. This was also the first time where I felt like I was surrounded by people running the same pace as me and we kept up with each other until the end. The last km I really charged it and had plenty of gas left so I could have pushed myself harder earlier in the race, but also didn’t want to risk bonking.
I suffered from side cramps which came from running downhill, when I would just hurtle down and I think the jolting hurt me. I kept my head down every time I ran a hill and never felt as tired as I usually do running this race. Next year, more hill training!
